Activities in the Ain
Not far from the Domaine de Mepillat campsite, located in the commune of Montagna Le Reconduit in the Jura (39), the river Le Besançon, formerly known as the fief du Besançon, rises. This wild river flows into the Solnan at Condal.
Despite its small size, in the 1860s the river was able to power no fewer than 24 mills and several factories in the reculée. At certain times of the year, when climatic conditions were more severe, the Besançon increased in volume and its major floods caused considerable damage in the valley. All along the river, from the village of Balanod to that of Montagna, you can follow a pleasant hiking trail, widely accessible to the general public and very pleasant to hike in summer (you’ll be struck by the constant ambient coolness and the typical abundant, luxuriant greenery, reminiscent of the heart of a tropical forest).
It only takes a few hours to explore the surrounding area and take a stroll. At the bottom of the village, you’ll find an old wash-house that’s still in use. In winter, the frozen waterfalls are a sight to behold.

Bresse circuit
Located in Frontenaud (71), the Circuit de Bresse is just what you’re looking for, whether you’re a motorcycle, car, karting or motor sport enthusiast in general, or you’re looking for a thrill or to improve your skills from the Camping Ain Mépillat.
Spanning more than 50 hectares, this unique complex is organized around 3 complementary areas of activity (speed, karting and safety) to combine a passion for motor sports, leisure activities and the need for advanced training.
There’s a 3-kilometer-long, 12-meter-wide Auto/Moto speedway, homologated to exceed 200 km/h, whose layout alternates slow bends, medium bends and fast bends, offering optimum safety for maximum fun; a Karting track over a kilometer long and 8 meters wide, FFSA Category 1 homologated, allowing access by sessions and groups; and a 3ᵉ evolution area dedicated to Safety and Road Risk Prevention.
The latter covers more than 2 hectares dedicated to prevention. You’ll be able to test different grip conditions in a simulated daily traffic situation, testing your reflexes and control.
Today, the Circuit de Bresse complex offers an unrivalled range of multi-activity facilities, dedicated both to motor sports and to the challenges of road safety and prevention (a unique and exclusive safety concept in France).
What’s more, the Bresse circuit is unique in the field of artificial driving areas in that it has been designed with respect for the surrounding natural environment. Few trees were sacrificed to make way for the project, and the soil and landscape were preserved when the circuit was integrated. The farms and dwellings on site have been renovated in keeping with the Bressan heritage style. Finally, the functional part of the site has been fully integrated into the local landscape, thanks to the appropriate use and layout of green spaces and infrastructures. So, after an intense and emotionally-charged day on the circuit, come and relax and spend a pleasant night in the peace and quiet of our 3-star campsite.
You can choose from a range of unusual accommodations, from comfortable mobile homes to a quiet spot by the pond, where you can set up your tent or caravan. Just 20 minutes from the circuit, our peaceful campsite will delight you.
